proHolz Tirol

proHolz Tirol is the association of the Tyrolean forestry and timber industry and is divided into three business units: Holzinformation (image building), Holzcluster (networking) and Holzausbildung (education, training). Within the association, proHolz Tirol bundles the activities for an increased use of wood – an ecologically and economically valuable natural product – along the entire forestry-timber value chain.

Within the framework of Bioeconomy Austria, proHolz Tirol is particularly dedicated to the topics of material flows, value-based processing and cascading use of wood. One of the aims of the project is to analyse the wood flows in the model region of Tyrol in order to find out which qualities are available in Tyrol and in what quantity, where they are delivered to and how they are further processed. The entire forest-wood value chain will be considered and included.

The data thus obtained should provide an overall picture of the routes taken by wood within Tyrol and, at best, serve as a basis for future decisions for actors in the value chain. Based on this, the conception of a speciality platform is also being considered, through which high-value wood assortments and wood qualities can be put to a value-oriented use.  In addition, proHolz Tirol is pursuing target-group-oriented communication on the wood-based bioeconomy, both within the sector and beyond. One of the goals is to sensitise the general public to the use of wood and wood products in the sense of the bioeconomy.
