Holzcluster Steiermark is a funded project partner of Bioeconomy Austria and also a hub leader for Styria.
The Holzcluster Steiermark network allows business, research and politics to grow together into a strong ecosystem. Thus, Holzcluster Steiermark promotes its members and develops the sector for a sustainable and competitive future. In the process, increasing internationalisation is an important success factor for the timber industry. That is why Holzcluster Steiermark, with its managing director Christian Tippelreither, carries out regular market analyses and provides support for important projects. The range of services starts with suitable subsidies and continues with innovative software products for the needs of the wood forestry sector. The focus is on developing long-term competitive strength by initiating lighthouse projects and putting them into practice. Bioeconomy Austria is one of these projects, in which Holzcluster Steiermark, as one of five hub partners, actively promotes bioeconomy in Austria. It focuses on the topic of “bringing wood into new applications” in order to connect companies, research, politics and other stakeholders and to break new ground together.
With the help of Bioeconomy Austria, the Styrian focus on introducing wood into the field of transportation is to be further developed. Through COMET projects such as WoodC.A.R and CARpenTiER, Holzcluster Steiermark and its partners can already look back on several years of experience in the development of structural components made of wood in the automotive sector. Bioeconomy Austria offers the opportunity to take the accumulated know-how beyond Styria’s borders and, with new impulses, to direct increased attention to new fields of application for wood in the future. Through the targeted networking of stakeholders along the wood value chain with partners from mechanical and plant engineering, the rail sector and in aviation, the preparatory work for future projects involving wood in new applications is being done. As a result, we as a wood cluster can support companies positioned along the wood value chain within the framework of bioeconomy even more effectively when it comes to innovative processes. The cluster network also supports expanding business fields and founding new companies.
