proHolz Tirol is the association of the Tyrolean forestry and timber industry, a funded project partner of Bioeconomy Austria and also a hub leader for the province of Tyrol. proHolz Tirol is divided into three business areas: Wood Information, Wood Cluster and Wood Education. In these, the association bundles its activities for an increased use of the ecologically and economically valuable natural product wood along the entire forestry-wood value chain.
Within the framework of “Bioeconomy Austria”, proHolz Tirol focuses in particular on the topics of material flows, value-based processing and cascading use of wood. In the course of the project, the wood flows in the model region Tyrol are to be analysed (material flow analysis). The entire forest-wood value chain will be considered and included. Among other things, the results can serve the actors as a basis for future decisions.
Based on this, the conception of a “speciality platform” is also being considered, through which high-quality wood assortments and wood qualities can be put to value-added use. In addition, proHolz Tirol is pursuing target-group-oriented communication on the wood-based bioeconomy, both within the sector and beyond. One of the goals is to sensitise the general public to the use of wood and wood products in the sense of the bioeconomy.
