The Ecosocial Forum Austria & Europe was founded in 1992 as an independent platform and think tank working for the implementation of this sustainable economic and social model at Austrian and European level. In view of the current challenges, development that benefits the economy, social affairs and the environment in equal measure is more necessary than ever. In order to conduct the most evidence-based discourse possible, taking into account current research findings, the Ecosocial Forum is accompanied by a scientific advisory board.
The circular economy and bioeconomy represent the translation of the “eco-social market economy” into the reality. Therefore, the Ecosocial Forum can already draw on a large amount of experience. This is evident, among other things, from the participation of the Ecosocial Forum in the preparation of the Austrian bioeconomy strategy. In addition, the Ecosocial Forum is a member of “BIOS Science Austria”. From 2017 to 2020, the Ecosocial Forum was significantly involved in the Horizon 2020 project BLOOM. The aim was to increase the knowledge and awareness of the European population about the bioeconomy. The Ecosocial Forum held the function of “hub leader” for Austria & Germany.
In Bioeconomy Austria, the Ecosocial Forum is responsible for the coordination of project communication. This concerns communication with network partners, stakeholders, politics and the population and includes measures to establish the “Bioeconomy Austria” brand, such as the development of the corporate design, and the creation of communication strategy and materials. The establishment of the cooperation platform www.bioeconomy-austria.at, as well as the management of the mail account: office@bioeconomy-austria.at, social media management, event organisation and support in the acquisition of further network partners are also part of the activities of the Ecosocial Forum.
