In June 2022, the Circular Design Week Tirol took place for the second time at BALE in Innsbruck. The focus of the two-week event was an exhibition on the German Federal Ecodesign Award, which was supplemented by regional projects and initiatives. This was accompanied by a comprehensive supporting programme with lectures and workshops on various areas of the circular economy. proHolz Tirol was represented with lectures on two days of the event as part of the “Bioeconomy Austria” project.

On Monday, 27 June, focusing on the bioeconomy, project manager Anna Schnegg presented the Bioeconomy Austria project. Afterwards, DI Kurt Ziegner (proHolz Tirol board member) explained the role of wood as a renewable resource in Tyrol’s sustainability and climate strategy. Thomas Timmel from BioBASE, also a project partner of Bioeconomy Austria, spoke about the cascading use of biomass.

“Circular Economy in the Building Sector” was the motto of the presentations on Tuesday, 28 June. Manfred Saurer, managing director of Holzbau Saurer and chairman of the board of proHolz Tirol, explained the possibilities of modern timber construction and the binding of carbon through the material use of wood under the title “With timber construction against the climate crisis”.
